Bringing you the best in educational and Catholic programming!
In the mid-1970's, when ice cream king, Tom Carvel, announced to Cardinal Cooke that ITV was going to hold a golf tournament to raise lots of money for its educational television system, even he couldn't have foreseen its ultimate success. Today, the ITV event stands as one of the most prestigious Pro-Ams on the east coast.
Since 1976, ITV has enjoyed the steadfast support and blessing of the Archbishops of New York. Terence Cardinal Cooke, John Cardinal O'Connor, Edward Cardinal Egan and Timothy Cardinal Dolan have all graciously supported this annual event for the benefit of instructional Television of the Archdiocese of New York.
Three of Westchester County's finest country clubs have been home to the event; first, Knollwood, followed by Wykagyl, and its current location, Siwanoy. The ITV LPGA Pro-Am has flourished under the reins of Tournament Directors Dick and Cynthia Anzolut. In early years, celebrities such as Joe DiMaggio, Vic Damone, Danny Thomas, Dina Merrill, and George C. Scott graced the fairways. More recently, the ladies of the LPGA have come to town, lead by Hall of Famer Kathy Whitworth, Barb Mucha, Laurie Rinker, Val Skinner, Nannette Hill and Heather Daly-Donofrio.
ITV has been able to continue its mission to serve the schools, hospitals and shut-ins of the Archdiocese with the funds generated by the tournament's success. Much gratitude goes to the hundreds of sponsors, celebrities and professionals who have contributed their time, money and talents.
Today, ITV is moving forward with many technological advances and will continue its mission to serve the Archdiocese of New York.
